GWEILO is a 47.4-meter sailing yacht designed by Dykstra & Partners and built by Mengi Yay Shipyard in 2009. Constructed using cold-molded wood technology with teak decks, she combines traditional craftsmanship with modern yacht-building standards. GWEILO is Cayman Islands-flagged and RINA commercial class certified.
The yacht accommodates up to 8 guests in 3 cabins, including a spacious owner’s suite and two guest cabins. Crew quarters for 7 are arranged across four cabins, ensuring exceptional service and safety during extended voyages. The layout includes a generous main salon with dining area, functional deck spaces, and comfortable lounging zones.
For watersports and shore access, GWEILO carries a CASTOLDI 18 ft tender powered by a Yanmar 115 hp engine. Her propulsion comes from a Caterpillar 3406E diesel engine (550 hp), delivering a maximum speed of 13 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots.
Between 2021 and 2022, the yacht underwent a comprehensive refit and RINA class renewal. Works included full servicing of the engines and generators, replacement of valves and anodes, Awlgrip repainting of the hull and booms, new antifouling, refinished varnished surfaces, and servicing of the bow thruster, windlass, and Harken winches.
Upgrades also covered replacement of all hydraulic lines, new water and bilge pumps, Cathelco anodes, a refurbished watermaker with new membranes, and testing of the grey and black water systems. The interior received new carpets, mattresses, and restored woodwork. In 2022, new Zaoli sails were fitted, standing rigging replaced, FM200 fire system tested, new liferafts installed, and BNWAS, LocoMarine 4G/5G Wi-Fi, and PLC control displays added, along with Calpeda and Rheinstorm pumps.
During the 2023/2024 winter season, GWEILO successfully completed her five-year RINA survey, including mast inspection and unstepping.
Presented in outstanding technical and cosmetic condition, GWEILO is fully ready for immediate cruising and ideally suited for extended ocean passages.
